Halloween Cupcakes Part 1

Last night I had the pleasure of teaching a class about Halloween cupcakes at a local library. We made 3 different Halloween cupcakes with a 4th already made for them. The instructions for the 4th cupcake are what this entry is all about, and the other 3 designs will be featured on my blog in the coming weeks before Halloween! If you're looking for some super cute, super simple cupcakes to make this Halloween, you are in the right place.

The first of the cupcake designs I'm going to cover is a creepy eyeball cupcake. To make the cupcake, first you're going to want to assemble your ingredients. All you need is some lifesavers, chocolate chips, white fondant, a tube of red icing with a small round tip (I used a #5), a 2 inch round cookie cutter, and a roller for your fondant.

Once you have your supplies together, the first thing you are going to need is your fondant, roller, and round cutter. A piece of parchment will also come in handy to hold your decorations while you work.

Roll out a small piece of fondant and using your cutter, cut out as many circles as you need for your cupcakes.

Once you have your circles cut, you will need your red icing and candies.

With your red icing, start in the middle of your circle and draw yourself some squiggly blood vessels.

Then unwrap a Lifesaver and add to the center of your eye.

Then add a little squirt of icing into the center of your Lifesaver and add an upside down chocolate chip.

And voila! An eyeball! Put your topper on your iced cupcake and you're all done!

Next time I'll be showing you how to make the cupcake you can see peeking through the box- a brain!
